That same year the FBI opened a file on her for singing unpatriotic material#In both 1945 and '46 Holiday won the Metronome poll for the best female vocalist#Lester Young, who played alongside Billie on many occasions, nicknamed her 'Lady Day'. She called him 'Prez' short for President#Holiday on jamming with Count Basie: " We had something no expensive arrangements could touch. The cats would come in, somebody would hum a tune. Then somebody would play it on the piano once or twice . . then Daddy Basie would two-finger it a little...then things would start to happen."
